It’s surprisingly heavy-duty wood, not flimsy particle board. Assembly wasn't bad, just take your time. It’s a bit smaller than I envisioned, but actually, it fits our space better this way. Good buy.

Love the look of it. It’s been great for practicing letters and numbers. My only gripe is that the tray can get a bit messy if the kids aren't careful with the chalk. Otherwise, it’s a solid piece of gear for the playroom.
