Hicooo® | Montessori Toddler Desk

I'm always paranoid about off-gassing from new furniture in my kid's room. I was very relieved that this set had zero chemical smell straight out of the box. It just smelled like natural wood. It feels very safe and thoughtfully designed for little ones.

We transitioned from a highchair to this little desk for snack time and independent play. His feet touch the ground perfectly when sitting in the chair, which helps him stay focused longer. The wood is thick and feels like real quality material, not cheap particle board.

This isn't just an art desk for us. Because the black top is so easy to wipe down, my son eats his afternoon snacks here too. The lower shelves are deep enough to hold his larger picture books, which makes it a nice reading nook as well.

I was specifically looking for a toddler desk that wasn't bright neon plastic. The natural wood and black top look really nice and blend in with our adult furniture. It's functional for my preschooler but still aesthetically pleasing for me to look at every day.

My daughter loves sitting here to draw, and the side cubbies are perfect for sorting her crayons by color. She prefers drawing on paper over the chalkboard, so we usually just tape a piece of paper to the black top. The flat surface is great, but a built-in clip would have been a cool addition.

We don't have a dedicated playroom, so this sits in the corner of our living room. I love that it doesn't take up a massive amount of floor space, but the vertical storage on the side holds all his coloring books, paint, and crayons. Keeps the mess contained to one corner!

My toddler is quite active and I was worried the chair might be flimsy, but it has a really nice weight to it. He can lean back and it doesn't tip over. The wood finish is very smooth and wipeable, which is essential for a messy craft station.

The side shelves are a lifesaver for all the art supplies. The top cubbies hold jars of markers perfectly so they don't roll away. The chalkboard top is fun, but a dry eraser just smears the chalk dust around. You definitely need to use a damp cloth to get it completely clean.

The chair is much heavier and sturdier than I expected; it doesn't tip backward easily when my son leans back.

This desk finally solved the problem of art supplies ending up all over the kitchen table. The top cubbies hold a ton of crayons and scissors, and the lower shelves fit standard-sized coloring books perfectly. It's a really smart, compact setup for a small corner of the playroom.

My biggest hesitation was the chalkboard top getting permanently stained, but it wipes completely clean with just a wet cloth. No ghosting at all. The desk feels very solid, and my 4-year-old hasn't managed to scratch or dent the light wood frame yet despite heavy daily use.

We love the built-in storage on the side, it holds all of his paint pots and markers perfectly.
