I bought this for my 18-month-old, but the pegs require a pretty solid, accurate hit to go down. He doesn't quite have the coordination or strength yet, so he mostly just chews on the hammer handle for now. My 3-year-old nephew, however, loved it immediately.

No batteries, no flashing lights, just pure physical energy release. It’s exactly the kind of classic toy I wanted for our playroom. The colorful pegs are very inviting and the wood feels untreated and natural.

Make sure to look at the photos closely. It’s not a huge, floor-standing workbench. It’s meant to sit on the floor or a small table while they sit next to it. Honestly though, the compact size makes it easier to store in the toy cabinet.

We use it to practice colors—I’ll ask him to "hammer all the red ones." It’s great for coordination. Just be aware that it's wood-on-wood (and plastic-on-wood) hammering, so it gets pretty loud. Not the best toy for a quiet Sunday morning.

The four teal legs raise the board up just enough so the pegs have room to be hammered through. The whole unit sits very flat and doesn't bounce or wobble around on our living room rug while he's hammering.

My kid is in a serious "smash everything" phase. This bench has taken a serious beating daily for the past month, and aside from a few minor dents on the pegs, the paint hasn't chipped at all. Very durable solid wood construction.

The little wooden hammer has a plastic head which makes it feel a bit more realistic to my son.

The best part about this pounding bench is that once all the pegs are hammered down, you just flip the whole table over and start again. No need to pull the pegs out manually. It keeps my toddler busy for long stretches without needing my help to reset it.
